I am versus I AM.

“Our little ‘I am’ always sulks and pouts when God says do. Let your little ‘I am’ be shriveled up in God’s wrath and indignation – ‘I AM WHO I AM… has sent me to you’ (Exodus 3:14). He must dominate. Isn’t it piercing to realize that God not only knows where we live, but also knows the gutters into which we crawl! He will hunt us down as fast as a flash of lightning. No human being knows human beings as God does.” -Oswald Chambers

No being knows humans like God knows us. He created us. He knows everything… absolutely everything about us… scary… and he Loves us anyway… freeing. ‘Nothing in all creation can separate us from His Love…’ -Romans 8:38. He will never stop loving us and He will never stop pursuing us… ‘all the days of our lives’ -Psalm 23. He knows our hearts and minds and souls and how they work with and against each other. He knows the plans of evil. As we both live and endure life on this earth, we can take comfort in knowing He not only sees us, but He understands us, and if we allow, He can work all things together for our Good and His Glory!

The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. -1 Samuel 16:7

Let us not ‘sulk’ as God does away with the earthly burdens in our lives, crucifying the ‘I am’ so the “I AM” can reign victorious- We must follow our Lord to the cross and allow His Spirit to Live and let go of our little ‘i’ for something much more beautiful and complete, God in us.

I came across this quote last night in my reading and felt it encouraging as we look at being His. It’s not about perfect actions, it’s about perfect surrender.

“She thus unknowingly made a step towards the discovery that it is infinitely better to think wrong and to act right upon that wrong thinking, than it is to think right and not to do as that thinking requires of us.” -George MacDonald
