Lest We Forget.

Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. -1 Corinthians 3:10-12 (msg)

For a couple days, C-Bear had one of those super unproductive dry, tickle coughs, and as everyone knows, nights are the worst for these. I felt helpless in a sense and prayed for wisdom. I tried the gammit of remedies that sometimes kind of work, and we were able to slow the spasming and relax a bit, but the cough still hindered her sleep. So, as I lie next to her, I told her to use the 360 breath, breathing deep into her belly, pushing down on her diaphragm and expanding her belly and back (360°). We had practiced this before with our stretching. The coughing ceased as long as we stayed focused. This is harder than you think, the staying focused part. I urge you to try. It’s healing, but the battle for our mind becomes very real. If we forgot the breath, the cough would start and I would gently bring our attention back. Sleep followed shortly after. In the morning, the cough was back, and I brought our attention back to the breath. C-Bear finally said, “Mom, it’s so hard to stay focused.”

Yes it is, but, God willing, I will keep reminding those in my life, including myself, of what is most important. All hope is not lost because the battle is not mine, praise Jesus for the Holy Spirit. The battle is real, and we desperately need Him.

This experience was not lost on me.

What God is asking from us is the most simple thing in the world, to build our Life on Him, trust Him – His Wisdom and His Love – His ways. To breathe. To stay focused on the Life-Giving Truth who is Jesus Christ. The Life-Giving Breath. The battle is in staying focused, building with solid building materials, eternal building materials. What we build with changes everything.

These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit – but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock. -Matthew 7:24-25 (msg)

The Word is Jesus. (John 1) Stay focused on the relationship with Jesus and breathe.
