Light Bearers.
Each person is given something to do that shows who God is… -1 Corinthians 12:7 (msg)
What a perfectly succinct reminder that we are not here for our own glory, but His, our Good and His Glory. All things beautiful and wonderful are not only from Him but are also to point back to Him… We are not given anything Good to make a show of it for personal gain but for the revelation of God’s Truth and Goodness in a dark and broken world. We are to be Light bearers in a variety of vessels and ways, working together as Christ’s Body. Each one of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain – his Spirit – where we all come to drink. -1 Corinthians 12:13
And when one of us suffers, we all suffer. Just like a physical body with a sickness. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the extravagance. -1 Corinthians 12:26
When we elevate ourselves, we hurt the whole body. We were each uniquely designed for a purpose that only we can fulfill through Christ, a unique piece to Christ’s Body. Let us not cut off our own foot with judgments and comparisons but help build each other up, loving with Christ’s compassionate Love. A Perfect Love.
If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love. Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. -1 Corinthians 13:3-7 (msg)
