Colliding into Song.
Some days I am hit with the dissonance of life, the perfect Love of a perfect God meeting the despair of mankind as it flees all that is Good… He Who is Good. I can’t tell if I should be warning and mourning or celebrating His Love! Today, I felt the collision. I turned to the Psalms and was reminded why we sing!
“Sing God a brand-new song! Earth and everyone in it, sing! Sing to God – worship God! Shout the news of his victory from the sea to sea, Take the news of his glory to the lost, News of his wonders to one and all!… Let Wilderness turn cartwheels, Animals, come dance, Put every tree of the forest in the choir – An extravaganza before God as he comes, As he comes to set everything right on earth, Set everything right, treat everyone fair.” -Psalm 96
“God rules. On your toes everybody!… – Psalm 99
“Know this: God is God, and God, God. He made us; we didn’t make him… Enter with the password: “Thank You!” Make yourselves home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. For God is sheer beauty, all-generous in love, loyal always and ever. -Psalm 100
“My theme song is God’s love and justice, and I’m singing it right to you, God… -Psalm 101
“Oh my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name!… He renews your youth – you’re always young in his presence… He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold, nor hold grudges forever. He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve, nor pay us back in full for our wrongs… And as far as sunrise is from sunset, he has separated us from our sins. As parents feel for their children, God feels for those who fear him. He knows us inside and out, keeps in mind that we’re made of mud.”
I’m stopping with that one because it makes me smile and makes my heart giggle.
And a little music 🙂
