Making Contact.

I, Paul, am God’s slave and Christ’s agent for promoting the faith among God’s chosen people, getting out the accurate word on God and how to respond rightly to it. My aim is to raise hopes by pointing the way to life without end. This is the life God promised long ago—and he doesn’t break promises! -Titus‬ ‭1:1-2 (msg)

I really enjoyed the Spanish (NTV) version of this verse: I was sent to proclaim faith to those that God has chosen and to teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live a life dedicated to God.

Do we know the Truth that shows us how to live lives dedicated to God? A better question might be do we even care – but let’s start from a point of caring! Do we know how to rightly respond to Christ’s message?

Oswald Chamber says it couple ways (well actually a whole lot more ways than a couple – but here are a couple 🙂

“The spirit of simplicity, clarity, and unity is born through the Holy Spirit, not through your decisions. God counters our self-willed decisions with an appeal for simplicity and unity”

And: We want to cling to our natural virtues, while all the time God is trying to get us in contact with the life of Jesus Christ…. But as we bring every part of our natural bodily life into harmony with the new life God has placed within us, He will exhibit in us the virtues that were characteristic of the Lord Jesus; And every virtue we possess Is His alone.

Simplicity and Unity – these are not words used often in our culture, but I promise there is hope. The hope is in asking, “Lord, how do I glorify you today?” Instead of “What do I feel like doing now?” Or “How do I get what I want?” Or “What does the world say I should do next?” Changing our narrative is no joke – it takes a new Spirit within us – Praise Jesus for this – Surrendering to this new Spirit – a New Master – a Good Master. One tiny choice at a time. I promise it’s the little moments. It is not about making a name for ourselves or gaining the world’s approval; Life is about being His… making contact with Christ and then responding. We will know Him by the simplicity and unity He brings to our Lives.

Paul asked Titus to be an example of this in how he lived – I pray we all try to be examples of this with our lives so that we may spread His Hope to the ends of the earth. Amen.

And a little more hockey. 🙂 It’s a little longer, but I didn’t know where to cut it, so I hope you enjoy.
