God’s Terms.

“But he does not perceive our purpose clearly. He supposes that we were all going to Minas Tirith; for that is what he would himself have done in our place. And according to his wisdom it would have been a heavy stroke against his power. Indeed he is in great fear, not knowing what mighty one may suddenly appear, wielding the Ring, and assailing him with war, seeking to cast him down and take his place. That we should wish to cast him down and have no one in his place is not a thought that occurs to his mind. That we should try to destroy the Ring itself has not yet entered into his darkest dream. In which no doubt you will see our good fortune and our hope. For imagining war he has let loose war, believing that he has no time to waste; for he that strikes the first blow, if he strikes it hard enough, may need to strike no more. So the forces that he has long been preparing he is now setting in motion, sooner than he intended. Wise fool… for now his eye gazes abroad rather than near at home…” -JRR Tolkien

It is always a power play with satan. The moment we let go of our selfish ambitions, we are out of play for evil. We can no longer be moved and manipulated for his gain. But, under chains of self, satan can play us like a fiddle, because we live on his terms; he understands selfish desires… but he does not understand self-less Love. You want freedom? Let self crumble into the dust and let stand the one thing that will still be standing for all eternity, God in us. Let His self-less Love be the Spirit that we live by, no more or no less. Let His Holy Spirit clean your home – no more letting your eyes roam abroad, comparing and wanting. We have all we need right here and right now.

“By working righteousness, Holy God will show what “holy” is. -Psalm 5:17 (msg)

“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” -Matthew 6:6 (msg)

“What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” -Matthew 6:32-33 (msg)

Live Life on God’s terms, self-less and steeped in Perfect Love.
