Intimacy with Jesus.
1 John 2:6 Anyone who claims to be intimate with God ought to live the same kind of life Jesus lived.
Do we believe that intimacy with God is more important and more life-giving than anything else we could possibly experience on this earth? And that through this ONE relationship, we are actually able to better serve and love those we claim we love most?
It seems a fair amount of people ‘don’t care’ about these questions or this verse, in a sense… yet these same people who ‘don’t care’ rant and rave about the injustices of this world. We fail to see that our not caring is what is causing the injustices in this world. Every time we choose our (self-serving) ways over God’s (life-giving) ways, we are adding to the hell and chaos that is running rampant on this earth. It’s a very humbling reality. We say we want peace but are unwilling to give up ourselves in order to fight for peace… in the end most people only want peace as long as it serves them… that is not peace by the way, that is just getting your way and wanting comfort. Peace is something much greater and much more beautiful than comfort; peace transcends our situation. The Apostle Paul had peace – mountaintops to prisons – He lived and was at peace.
Lord, I love you. Help me to live like You, to live in Your Peace. Amen.
