Don’t Let This Rattle You.

John 13:38-14:1 (MSG) “Really? You’ll lay down your life for me? The truth is that before the rooster crows, you’ll deny me three times. Don’t let this rattle you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me.

It sure is one thing to profess to trust God, in the invisible sense, where words may or may not meet actions…  but, then He comes down to earth and says, “Here I am. To see me is to see the Father. I am showing you the Way. Do as I do.” (John 14)

The gray matter is removed.

Jesus just got done asking the Disciples to do the impossible… what had been proven to be humanly impossible over the last 4,000 years… “Love one another in the same way I loved you.” That is what the Old Testament demonstrates over and over again… We are unable to love without agenda out of the goodness of our hearts. Our broken hearts are not so good…

But don’t let this rattle you. Don’t let the fact that on our own – we will deny Jesus… even with little to no persecution, just because someone might not like us or think highly of us or heck, maybe even just because we don’t feel like doing what we know to be truly good.

Jesus then follows with some beautiful advice on how to do the impossible… Look to the infinite. The one who can do the impossible. He even states in John 14:11 – Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see — these works…”

The miracles testify. It’s not blind faith; it’s a revelation of who our Loving Father truly is.

So don’t let it rattle you, all hope is not lost. Our God came to save us from ourselves. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face. Let the world grow dim… and Live knowing whose you are. He’s got this.
