Love.
I’m sharing these quotes from the series I recently finished, ‘The Dragons Among Us, Children of Zion’ by Ted and Rachelle Dekker. Both quotes are spoken by a character that is Love manifested, a character fully part of God. (Please note, I did take out the names.)
“You’ve come hoping we would choose a side. But we see no sides. We are love. Your division is formed in fear. We can’t join you in that place. To do so would be to abandon what we are.”
“Love has no enemies, no opposites. It doesn’t need to protect or fight. It can’t be harmed, or wronged, or taken. The worst thing you can do to that kind of love is forget it’s within you and that you were created from it.” -Ted & Rachelle Dekker
Jesus prayed: “I’m praying not only for them But also for those who will believe in me Because of them and their witness about me. The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind— Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So they might be one heart and mind with us. Then the world might believe that you, in fact, sent me. The same glory you gave me, I gave them, So they’ll be as unified and together as we are— I in them and you in me. Then they’ll be mature in this oneness, And give the godless world evidence That you’ve sent me and loved them In the same way you’ve loved me.” -John 17:20-23 (msg)
“…So that your love for me might be in them exactly as I am in them.” John 17:26
Let us not forget Who made us and that that Who is Love. We were made in love. Fear divides us and Love unites us. And what is Love?
“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.
If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.
If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.” -1 Corinthians 13:1-7 (msg)
Lord, reveal who you are and set the world right! You are Love. You are all that is Good and perfect. May we be united in You and through You and because of You… and Live.
