Time.

“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah; From you One shall come forth for Me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel, His goings forth (appearances) are from long ago, From ancient days.” [Gen 49:10; Matt 2:5-12; John 7:42] Therefore, He will give them up until the time When she who is in labor has given birth to a child. Then what is left of His kinsmen Shall return to the children of Israel. And He shall stand and shepherd and guide His flock In the strength of the Lord, In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God; And they shall dwell [secure in undisturbed peace], Because at that time He shall be great [extending His authority] [Even] to the ends of the earth. [Ps 72:8; Is 40:11; Zech 9:10; Luke 1:32, 33] This One [the Messiah] shall be our peace… -Micah‬ ‭5‬:‭2‬-‭5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

His goings forth are from long ago, from ancient days.”

When I read these verses about the prophecy of Jesus, I am assured that I understand very little about time. The One to come has been… His goings forth are from ancient days. My mind is taken up on a journey past my lateral thinking of time in a line, and instead, into our God who lives beyond time and is reconciling us back into Him. Unto us the Child has been born! This is the Good News. God’s Kingdom has come. The Good Shepherd has come to guide His flock in the Strength of the Lord. For me, I must step out of time with Him. The worldly expectations we place on time crushes; it crushes the love that I was created to pour forth by keeping me distracted from the source, to which I have no Love apart from the Source.

Will we receive the Love, following the Good Shepherd? Or will we let the world’s expectations dictate our next move? Moment by moment our lives slip away, or moment by moment we fight to Live.

God keeps renewing the promise and setting the date as today, just as He did in David’s psalm, centuries later than the original invitation: Today, please listen, don’t turn a deaf ear. -Hebrews 4:7

This One [The Messiah] shall be our peace.

Turns out we have all we need in Him.
