Quiet Confidence.
O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:1-5 (NLT)
Everyday, in many, many ways, we are tempted to put our trust in someone or something other than God. I’m not going to begin listing these ways because the list would be incredibly long and ever-incomplete. The truth is, until the Holy Spirit reveals these subtle traps in our own heart, we will simply defend our choices. But Praise Jesus! Because of His Holy Spirit, we are able to begin to see the temptations we are surrounded with every day, luring us away from trusting His Perfect, All-Encompassing Love… freeing us!
And in this surrender, I have found Psalm 25 to be a home for me. This giving up of my life, proclaiming my trust and admitting that part of me may doubt, but I don’t want to doubt any longer. Lord! Help my unbelief – or as King David says, Do not let me be disgraced. Lord, I am putting all my eggs in your basket. I can hear the mocking voices but let my praise to You drown them out. King David continues on with a prayer and proclamation. Lord, lead me, teach me. I hope in You… all day long!
I have one Hope… and He is Good. Let my love be my quiet confidence. Amen.
