Hold on to Good.

Well, I finished Ed Dunlop’s fifth book last night in the The Terresrtria Chronicles. He struck home in illustrating our fickle human heart with such effectiveness that I can’t help but say, ‘darn it!’ How subtle, simple little preoccupations tug at our hearts only to grow and grow until they devour us. We convince ourselves we are in control, but the control is only an illusion.

Guard your heart friend! Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. -Romans 12:9

We justify our drifting with excuses and maybe even examples of how we shared the gospel in our state of running or dedicated our gifts to God. But Paul warns us about this in Romans 12:3: …it’s important that you not misinterpret yourselves as people who are bringing this goodness to God. No, God brings it all to you. The only accurate way to understand ourselves is by what God is and by what he does for us, not by what we are and what we do for Him.

Oswald Chambers put it this way: “There is actually only one thing you can dedicate to God, and that is your right to yourself.”

The heart of the Bible is Our heart surrendered… a relationship restored with our loving creator. Count it all nothing except for this one pure, simple, and beautiful truth… We Are His. We are Loved. We belong to the King – and He is a most Gentle, Loving, and True Father. Hold on for dear life to good.

Pics are from the ice storm last night. So much beauty and power.
