God’s Word.
Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. -2 Peter 1:3 (msg)
God’s Word.
“We couldn’t be more sure of what we saw and heard—God’s glory, God’s voice. The prophetic Word was confirmed to us. You’ll do well to keep focusing on it. It’s the one light you have in a dark time as you wait for daybreak and the rising of the Morning Star in your hearts. The main thing to keep in mind here is that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion. And why? Because it’s not something concocted in the human heart. Prophecy resulted when the Holy Spirit prompted men and women to speak God’s Word.” -2 Peter 1:19-21 (msg)
As usual, it seems, we make it more complicated than necessary… with our opinions, our perspective, emotions, and thoughts. I love how Peter puts this together: “no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of private opinion… it’s not concocted in the human heart.”
God continues to impress upon my heart, deeper and deeper, “He solved the sin problem for good – not only ours, but the whole world’s… and it’s our fellowship with God that enables us to gain a victory over the Evil one.” -1 John 2:2,14
It is God’s working… God’s pureness, God’s Love, God’s Goodness that saves – we have been invited to be partakers, but it is not by our wisdom and doing – It is our surrender to God that allows Him to pour through us into this world.
Peter points out that prophecy is not to be concocted by a human heart, but it is God within us prompting us to speak God’s Word, capital ‘W’ Word… that would be Jesus: The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, in readiness for God from day one… The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. -John 1:1-2,14 (msg)
We don’t have to concoct or come up with anything – we are simply asked to share Jesus, His Love poured out through us. It is a Good day to be His. Amen.
