Today.

Romans 4:6 …the one who trusts God to do the putting-everything-right without insisting on having a say in it is one fortunate man…

In this broken world, we are plagued with the doubt; Is our Heavenly Father truly enough?.. in all circumstances and in all ways? Jesus died to show us that He is! It seems our desire for our certainty in tomorrow gets in the way of our trust and gratitude in the present moment. God is in the business of setting things right – this is His promise to us.

Romans 3:27 God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does.

We are not the ones calling the shots; Paul encourages us by saying that a ‘fortunate man’ embraces this truth instead of fighting to have a say. I know this truth affects all of us differently, but it is, in fact, a truth that we must all come to know and embrace… this is the beginning of real life… to know and live God’s love for us and through us and there is absolutely no fear in this love.

1 John 4:18 There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life – fear of death, fear of judgment – is one not yet fully formed in love.

1 John 3:18-20 My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living God’s reality. It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.

I simply want to encourage all of us to take what God gives us each day, one day at a time, not letting our fears for tomorrow drown out the gift of today. Amen.
