Desperation Turned to Luck?
(Pic: Getting ready for ultimate frisbee!)
Then Jesus entered and walked through Jericho. There was a man there, his name Zacchaeus, the head tax man and quite rich. He wanted desperately to see Jesus, but the crowd was in his way—he was a short man and couldn’t see over the crowd. So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus when he came by.
When Jesus got to the tree, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down. Today is my day to be a guest in your home.” Zacchaeus scrambled out of the tree, hardly believing his good luck, delighted to take Jesus home with him. Everyone who saw the incident was indignant and grumped, “What business does he have getting cozy with this crook?”
Zacchaeus just stood there, a little stunned. He stammered apologetically, “Master, I give away half my income to the poor—and if I’m caught cheating, I pay four times the damages.”
Jesus said, “Today is salvation day in this home! Here he is: Zacchaeus, son of Abraham! For the Son of Man came to find and restore the lost.” -Luke 19:1-10 (msg)
The truth is, it was not luck for Zacchaeus. Anyone and all who desperately seek Jesus will find Him. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” -Jeremiah 29:13 or “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’lll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s decree. (Jeremiah 29:13-14 Msg)
And then, He will restore us! What the world intends for evil – God will use for good. Redeeming Love!
“Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid. Do I act for God? Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now—life for many people. Easy now, you have nothing to fear; I’ll take care of you and your children.” He reassured them, speaking with them heart-to-heart.” -Genesis 50:19-21 (msg)
God is so so Good.
Also, some special music. ND wanted to share this song today.
