We’ll Hardly Notice.
“Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life? Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day—but we’ll hardly notice. We’ll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness.” -2 Peter 3:11-13 (msg)
What are we focusing on today? As I read this scripture this morning, my heart smiled. If I’m focusing on the Lord, I will hardly notice as the galaxies burn up and the elements melt down. On the days that I allow myself to be sucked into the chaos of this world, I very much realize the burning up of our galaxy; the plague of evil desires ruling hearts and minds and thoughts, destroying His perfect creation. This verse is convicting me into the most beautiful, sincere surrender. Stay focused on Him; He is enough. A beautiful reminder to start my day. I am “looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth.”
I dare to believe in His Sovereign Love, that a life surrendered to Him, focused solely on Him will bring more Goodness and Glory than all our human efforts combined throughout the entire existence of man.
