The Holy Spirit is in the House!
Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor. James 3:17-18 (msg)
I have stated many times that I know the Holy Spirit is present in Bobby because he loves me. He knows most everything about me, and he still loves me. That is not easy to do with anyone. He has watched me parent – which brings out all sides of any human, frustration, fear, joy, beauty, pain, grace, discouragement, happiness… the list goes on. He has watched God change me from the inside out which is pretty darn hard to understand without the help of the Holy Spirit… as Paul, John, Isaiah, and Jesus would attest – God’s ways are not our ways – and His ways will look quite foolish through the lens of this world.
I’m not trying to paint some unrealistic truth about our home or my husband, we have plenty of struggles – but when we put God first instead of ourselves, the struggles look a whole lot different, and we spend a whole lot less time fighting with each other.
I simply wanted to encourage us all tonight to get along with each other… It is hard work. We tend to just dismiss anyone who disagrees with us or offends us. It truly is hard work to get along with someone, to love someone without cause. Praise Jesus!; we have the Holy Spirit to help us. Lord, let the Holy Spirit fill us and displace all the darkness, insecurities, fear, and death that fill us so that we can see each other through Your eyes instead of they eyes of the world. Amen.
