Trust.
In Hebrews, Jesus is quoted as saying, “Even I live by placing my trust in God.” -Hebrews 2:13 (msg)
“We received the same promises as those people in the wilderness, but the promises didn’t do them a bit of good because they didn’t receive the promises with faith.” -Hebrews 4:2 (msg)
We are given the same promises as those Israelites that were led out of Egypt, out of slavery and bondage. They were given the promise of freedom at the hand of God. Those same Israelites died in the desert – unwilling to believe that God was enough… they didn’t even make it to the promised land. The Old Testament illustrates God’s faithfulness to His people and our inability to Live without Him… so He sends Jesus to show us the way back to Glory!… to become Sons and Daughters of God. That has been God’s design for us since the beginning. If we would only let Him rule in our lives, He would lead us out of death and sin and slavery and bondage and into the Promised Land.
I have come to discover that Life is a whole lot less about what we do – and a whole lot more about what God does. Our one and only job is to trust Him… “Even Jesus lived by placing His trust in God.” Because that is Life.
“It wasn’t so long ago that we ourselves were stupid and stubborn, easy marks for sin, ordered every which way by our glands, going around with a chip on our shoulder, hated and hating back. But when God, our kind and loving Savior God, stepped in, he saved us from all that. It was all his doing; we had nothing to do with it. He gave us a good bath, and we came out of it new people, washed inside and out by the Holy Spirit. Our Savior Jesus poured out new life so generously. God’s gift has restored our relationship with him and given us back our lives. And there’s more life to come—an eternity of life! You can count on this.” -Titus 3:3-8 (msg)
