Follow the Map.
We watched Pilgrim’s Progress at our end-of-the-school-year celebration. And this one gem from the movie specifically stuck out to me: Follow the map that the Good Shepherd gives us. Christian and Hopeful didn’t have a physical map, but the Good Shepherd told them what to look for and how to identify Him.
I had a very real experience over this past week where I was praying about guidance, wanting God’s guidance and waiting to hear an answer. I thought about this part of the movie, and I realized He has already given me the map. I already know what I need to know. I know who Jesus is. Now, I simply need to obey regardless of my opinion. I had to give up something good for something that was best – although I couldn’t fully see what was best yet; it was hard… but I obeyed – then I could see. It was incredible.
I’m sharing this story to encourage and to bring hope. Because I am grateful for those that have walked ahead of me and beside me, and because of their participation in His Glory, their testimonies are a solace and a comfort on my pilgrimage.
“Know that I’m on your side, right alongside you. You’re not in this alone.” -Colossians 2:1 (msg)
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace.
Amen.
PS. Happy Mother’s Day! I pray every mom knows that He is there to help us through, and we are truly doing the Lord’s work when we are simply present with those He places in our lives.
PSS. I am very grateful for my mother’s day bike ride!!!!
