Shake Like Jelly.
Luke 24:36-41 While they were saying all this, Jesus appeared to them and said, “Peace be with you.” They thought they were seeing a ghost and were scared half to death. He continued with them, “Don’t be upset, and don’t let all these doubting questions take over. Look at my hands; look at my feet—it’s really me. Touch me. Look me over from head to toe. A ghost doesn’t have muscle and bone like this.” As he said this, he showed them his hands and feet. They still couldn’t believe what they were seeing. It was too much; it seemed too good to be true.
“Don’t be upset, and don’t let all these doubting questions take over.” God says, “Peace be with You.” I think we all need a little ‘shake like jelly’… and then let His peace be with us. Let Him have His way with us. Let go of everything else… all our questions and planning and plotting. It does seem too good to be true – from our very broken and self-focused perspective, it’s hard to believe in a God who truly is Love, Pure Love – undefiled and undefilable – self-sacrificing instead of self-serving. We have a beautiful God who wants us to know Life by letting go of our worries and fears and instead trusting Him.
So shake like jelly, I am serious by the way. It is incredibly freeing and then let go. Smile and dance and move because we have a God who cannot be evil. We are free in Him… Too good to be true? Nope. Just an incredible Love.
