The Lamb of God Takes Away the Sin of the World.
John 1:29 Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the World!
Do you believe it? Do you believe that Christ has come to take away aka forgive the sins of the world? To separate this world from sin?
Bobby and I were trying to come up with what we have culturally translated forgiveness to, and the best we could come up with is forgiveness equals ‘don’t worry about it’. Or the Webster dictionary definition: to cease to feel resentment. This is NOT at ALL what John is proclaiming here… nor would it be worth proclaiming in all fairness… nor would it bring us anywhere nearer the Glory of God and away from our evil ways. It would actually draw us away from God and deeper into ourselves because none of the evil has been done away with and instead justified and ‘not worried about’.
We must not compromise God’s Goodness… no matter how good we think our theology is… What I mean – let us not explain the infinite into a corner so that we can understand it while limiting what God can and will do; but instead join the pilgrimage upward into the infinite, drawing ever deeper into His Goodness, into Him. Trusting with every fiber of our being that He is Good.
I’m going to try to get into this deeper over the next few days. These past couple weeks have been filled with revelation of Him, and while I want to share these revelations it will take me a little time… and even then, finite words are no match for an infinite God. So for tonight I pray you celebrate that the Lamb of God has come to take away the sin of the world! He sends our sin away from us, casting light into the darkness so that the darkness can no longer remain… and this is for the World – without a list of exceptions. So why is there still sin? I will try to start there tomorrow.
I’m not claiming I have all the answers; I’m simply claiming He does and He is Good. Peace be with you.
