To Set the Burdened Free.
It really doesn’t matter the world’s opinion. What an impossible truth to realize some days – but a freeing truth none the less.
Jesus quoted the prophet Isaiah:
God’s Spirit is on me: he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the burdened and battered free, to announce, “This is God’s time to shine!”
Then He follows it up with, “This just came true, right now in this place.” -Luke 4:16-21
Jesus announces again: God’s kingdom is here.
He is setting us free. He just stated, I have the power to forgive your sins and heal you. John the Baptist announced this is The Man that can baptize you from the inside – pouring His Spirit out on you and changing you from the inside out.
The world can call us whatever it likes, but if we allow Jesus Christ to set us free – we are free. We can be made new – no matter our circumstances, no matter our past.
Who the Son sets free will be truly free. – John 8:36
“Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28
Doesn’t this world make all of us weary? Makes me weary.
Lord I come to you weary. Save me from myself. Draw me nearer to you – the place of quiet rest, trusting you, obeying you, letting you lead. Thank you for loving me so completely and mercifully – never giving up on me. Amen.
I just want to share, we all have struggles. Every day our family has struggles – everyone has struggles – but it’s not what I hold onto. I try and learn from those struggles and glean the good. Here are some of our gleanings.
