Enjoy the Ride.
John 3:31-32 He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of the earth, and we speak of earthly things, but he has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else. He testifies about what he has seen and heard, but how few believe what he tells them!
I had a silly/ironic thought pop into my head after reading this scripture.
In reading the gospels, it becomes incredibly clear that Jesus is from God, He knows God, and is doing the Will of God. Common sense would tell us that we should probably heed His advice… you know… the Creator of the universe.
What I mean by this might be better illustrated with the thought that came to me. Let’s say you are driving a car, and the maker of the car says you need to change your oil every 5,000 miles. You can either listen to this advice, or you can say, ‘I’ll show you. I have a better idea!’ and never change your oil or do it every 20,000 miles instead. What will happen to your car? Seems that the creator of the car might know more about the car than the person driving it and if the creator has some tips, we will probably find them useful, and they will more than likely aid us in better enjoying our ride.
Wouldn’t the same apply for God? We many times act as if to obey God is such a huge inconvenience or burden… The tugs at our heart, we ignore, or say, “that’s great God, but I’ll just do it my way.” I know satan is good at putting lipstick on a pig – but Jesus continually reminds us that life, that life that we are all yearning for – real life – eternal life, is only found through Him.
John 3:33 Anyone who accepts his testimony can affirm that God is true.
It’s not a trick. Put your trust in Him and enjoy the ride.
