He is Enough.

Luke 10:42 (nlt) For there is only one thing worth being concerned about; Mary has discovered it and it will not be taken from her.

Here’s a question I struggle with: If I get to the end of the day and I have accomplished nothing that I can put on a list, but I can confidently say, “I was His today”, is that enough? This is so much harder than we are willing to give Mary credit for. I’m not talking about being lazy and neither was Jesus. Setting your mind on Who is Good and Right and fighting to keep it there despite the seemingly endless distractions being thrust at us every day is anything but lazy. Anyone who has tried this, knows this to be true, so why do we allow the world’s narrative to affect our worth?

It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief. -Ephesians 2:1-2 (msg)

Lord! Help our unbelief! It is our lack of trust that allows the world’s narrative to have any footing in our lives… this is why I am so, so, so incredibly thankful for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We have been given the gift of a Free Life, not lazy. Free. Not Chaotic. But Free. And through God’s Spirit in us we are able to see Who God is!

Who would know God’s character better than God himself, His very own Spirit? Now we have a new question: Does the God who lavishly provides you with his own presence, his Holy Spirit, working things in your lives you could never do for yourselves, does he do these things because of your strenuous moral striving or because you trust him to do them in you? -Galatians 3:5 (msg)

The kind of trust that allows us to live Free, to be fully His, to proclaim boldly, “He Is Enough”, this trust is also a gift of His Spirit. He will work this out in us as we look toward Him, living out baby-steps of obedience moment by moment. Saying no to fear, comparing, and judging and saying yes to Him. Lord, You are enough, help our unbelief.

Today is yet another wonderful day to surrender more deeply into His Love and Freedom. Amen.
