Focus.

Luke 13:23-24 A bystander said, “Master, will only a few be saved?”

He said, “Whether few or many is none of your business. Put your mind on your life with God. The way to life – to God! – is vigorous and requires your total attention.

“Your focus needs more focus.” – The Karate Kid.

I hear the bystander’s question often – and I love Jesus’ response. We are so worried about the destination and about what everyone else is doing — when God is simply asking us to focus on Him and let Him take care of the rest. The purpose of our existence is a relationship with Him.

This post specifically, I am writing as a reminder to myself. The distractions are many and the lamps pointing me Home are few, but I won’t give up, and I won’t get sucked into the distractions. I will keep my eyes on Him, trusting and knowing who He is and that I am His. Lord, help me. What I do today is no where near as important as Whose and who I am today. As I teach my children and others’ children, the knowledge based lesson is never as important as the humanity/discipling lesson. Whatever I get done today matters little to nothing compared to keeping my feet on His path – because without Him there is no Life and I am no help to anyone.

Stay present in Him. Lord, make it so! Amen.
