United.

John 17:21-22 The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind – just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, so they might be one heart and mind with us. Then the world might believe that you, in fact, sent me.

There is a really important question we, the Body of Christ, need to be asking ourselves – is their any agenda, movement, political or social stance that we are putting above of God?

If God has placed a conviction on our heart, I’m not trying to say we shouldn’t live it out, but if our lives become more about the stance than about Him – the Body of Christ loses a member.

I always thought the above verse was about being so filled with the Holy Spirit that I would have compassion on those who see things differently; while there might be some truth to the former, last night God walked me through a situation that illustrated unity vs division, real time. As I was lying down for bed, this scripture was impressed upon my heart with such simplicity that I saw a straight forward message being spoken that I didn’t quite recognize before.

Looking to Jesus, letting Him be our Lord and Master is the only way we will be united. And if we aren’t united, we aren’t looking at Him. That my friend, is convicting. We are united in being – looking up – not out to the sides; there will never be unity if we are looking away from Him… and when we look away, His Body loses.

Our unity proves who we are. Look around. Division created by political or social division surrounds us! Even people within the same movements can’t get along… But those united in Christ – they are looking up, beyond this world and Our Unity will prove whose we are and glorify our Father.
